Highlights 2022
Despite the persistent challenges presented by the pandemic throughout the first few months of 2022, Interparking has been working tirelessly to enhance its services and advance its digital capabilities. Additionally, the company has taken various measures to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

Award-winning Parking Confluence in Namur: best car park in Europe
In Namur, Interparking offers customers a new state-of-the-art underground car park which has been recently recognised by the European Parking Association (EPA) as the best new car park in Europe.
The Confluence car park, offering 670 spaces, opened on June 30, 2021 in Namur. As its name suggests, this new facility is located at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers, on the emblematic site of the Grognon.
Above ground, this site is low impact in keeping with our sustainability goals. The car park itself consists of four underground floors of 5,000 square metres each. It extends up to 12 metres below ground level, i.e. nine metres below the level of the Meuse and Sambre rivers. Working in rock and water was quite complex and required substantial engineering expertise. The car park was therefore designed as a floating boat anchored into the rock.
The major criteria for the EPA award were, among others, the contribution to the local community, supporting the attractiveness of the city centre and its impact on sustainable mobility.

Growing together with Gdansk Airport
Interparking Poland and Gdansk Airport have enjoyed a successful 20-year partnership. In recent years, this partnership has evolved rapidly and the Interparking offering has significantly expanded at the airport. Since 2020, the P7 parking lot has been in development and opened for business in April 2022. A little further from the airport, this new site is connected to the terminal by a pedestrian walkway and has been promoted as ‘The least expensive parking solution at the Airport’. The parking lot has been so successful that work has already begun on a further extension to P7 and the existing P6 car parks. Scheduled for completion in March 2023, these two extensions will bring the Interparking capacity at Gdansk airport from its current 4,000 spaces to nearly 5,000. All Interparking car parks at the Gdańsk Airport are open air ones. Customers can use EV chargers in car parks P1, P3 and P6, P7. The site includes photovoltaic installation as well.

Venice: Collaboration with Interparking and VeLa
Venice is one of the most famous cities in the world. In the past few years, the city’s attractiveness had reached a point where it became no longer sustainable for its residents. The city authorities therefore had to react and decided to gradually limit access to this tourist area. In the future, visitors will be required to pre-book their city visit and pay a new city tax. With 4,000 indoor and 1,000 outdoor spaces, the Interparking Tronchetto car park will become both the physical gateway for car visitors to the city (by providing their parking), but also the digital gateway as potential visitors will be able to pre-book parking at Tronchetto on the same portal they book their city pass (VeLa).
QR codes will then give visitors access to both the car park and the city. The portal provides a one-stop-shop booking experience for city visitors. In the late 2022, the city used Tronchetto for a successful ‘soft launch’ where visitors could park and benefit from discounted tickets to museums and public transport available from a pay machine in the car park.

The Voltaire project: Upskilling staff and their families in France
The Voltaire project was launched in September 2022 with the goal to help Interparking staff members and their families to improve their written communications. By focusing on spelling, grammar and vocabulary, the project aims to assist staff members in their formal communication with various authorities in France and also to upskill staff communications internally and with outside parties (customers and vendors). This one-year project has already seen one third of staff members complete the course by the end of 2022. Results have been positive with a clear improvement in email and other written communications. To track the improvement, all participants are assessed before and after the course. In addition to aiding current job performance, it is hoped the improved communications skills will enhance career opportunities for the team.
In addition to adult modules, there are tailored modules available to children of staff for different school levels or age groups.

CRM implementation improves customer service
Interparking implemented a new CRM for customer service case management. The customer service team now has a central repository and management of all problem tickets from customers. This has allowed for proactive identification of issues by site or by service, which facilitates ongoing continuous service improvement. By streamlining complaint capture and allocation, the speed of resolution has improved. Good news for customers and customer satisfaction.

New reservation system in Berlin Südkreuz
A new digital reservation system has been successfully piloted at the Berlin Südkreuz station. Pursuing the joint venture collaboration with Deutsche Bahn, customers can book their train ticket, reserve their seat, and, as part of the same booking, reserve a parking space at the DB BahnPark car park adjacent to the station. The booking grants entry to the car park and guarantees a parking space. A key selling point for the platform is that it allows quick and easy booking options to travellers and can be booked in advance or at short notice on the day of travel. The new integrated booking platform has been rolled out to nine additional train stations. Further roll-out will continue nationwide in 2023.

Two Interparking car parks to serve newly-opened Galeazzi hospital
An early outcome of the strategic partnership with the San Donato group has been the award of an additional opportunity at the newly-opened Galeazzi hospital, also in Milan. Built on the site of the Milan Expo, this new 600-bed hospital merges two previous facilities in the area. There are two car parks for the site, the first is part of the building and offers 346 spaces, primarily for hospital staff, but also for some patients and visitors. The second, the RHO car park, is a remote ‘Fast Park’ structure within walking distance of the hospital. This 862 space car park will service hospital staff and visitors, and also serves as general parking for the area. Operations began in September 2022.

New ‘City’ car park is perfectly centred
Contipark Germany has acquired the ‘City’ car park in the centre of Hof (Saale), adding to the existing portfolio of car parks in the city which are co-located with the main train station. The 277-space car park on 10 split levels is ideally positioned at the beginning of the city’s pedestrianised zone between the old and new town areas. Perfectly situated for tourists, shoppers and city diners, the station allows visitors to park close to all the city’s major attractions and shopping areas. In the coming years, Contipark will invest in a digital and physical upgrade. Access has already been improved for users by converting the site to a 24-hour opening.

Bike box pilot in DB BahnPark locations
As cities across the continent become increasingly focused on mobility, the bike is gaining importance as a stand-alone mode of transport and also a critical link in the multimodal trip model. In an effort to capitalise on this emerging trend, DB Bahn has launched a pilot programme of incorporating bike boxes onsite in nine car parks. Customers can lease a bike space in a box for periods starting from three months. This specifically targets train commuters and employees in the vicinity of the car parks.

New Brucity car park in the heart of Brussels
The brand-new Brucity car park is a convenient starting point for a day in the capital. As Brussels centre becomes increasingly pedestrianised this ideally located car park offers easy access to the downtown area.
Thanks to its exceptional location, just a stone’s throw from the Place de Brouckère, and place Sainte-Catherine and only a five minute walk from the Grand Place, this new car park offers an easy and practical parking solution to visitors to the newly-opened Brussels administrative centre / city hall, but also to professionals in the area and to ad-hoc or long stay tourists. For the nostalgic, this is where it all began with the historical Parking 58 which is now replaced.
Equipped with leading-edge ‘lungs of the city’ technology, the Brucity car park reduces fine particles in the air using a positive ionisation process. The resultant reduction means air quality in the car park is better than the surrounding city.
Perfectly situated in the heart of the capital, close to many historic buildings, this car park offers 450 spaces for cars, 250 for bicycles, eight for motorcycles, 11 spaces for people with reduced mobility and 33 charging stations for electric vehicles. It also benefits from the latest LED lighting technology.

Digital transformation: Seamless parking without barriers or tickets
Contipark has successfully piloted a unique new ticketless and barrier-free solution in 2022. The trial took place in two locations with differing user profiles, the first in Bietigheim-Bissingen in Stuttgart, where customers are mostly regular returning users, and in Berlin Ostbahnhof where there is a higher number of one-off or non-regular users. Beginning in Bietigheim-Bissingen, the pilot was immediately very popular with users who could now avoid pay station queues. In addition to the enhanced customer experience, an internal benefit is a 90% reduction in customer service calls from the site. The pilot was continued in Berlin, and after an initial learning curve around adoption by once-off users, enhanced communication efforts onsite have seen similar results and reductions in calls. Improved customer satisfaction, reduced maintenance and operational costs and lower customer service costs mean a better quality and a better price for our clients.

Strong partnership moving forward
During the Covid lull, Gdansk airport invested heavily, adding new piers and additional routes as passenger numbers increasingly return to pre-COVID levels. In addition to increasing the capacity of the airport itself, airport authorities have also diversified into commercial office space development adjacent to the airport. Interparking operates now the 300-space car park of this new commercial area, the first of its kind developed by a regional airport in Poland.

Stuttgart Vaihingen car park becomes a mobility hub
DB Bahnpark, a joint venture between our subsidiary Contipark and the railway company “Deutsche Bahn” has further enhanced mobility options for Stuttgart residents and train as well as for car commuters. Located at the Stuttgart Vaihingen train and tram station, the MobiHub offers users a range of mobility options for commencing or continuing their journey after the train or after parking in the Vaihingen car park. The hub offers a number of electric options - e-bikes, e-scooters and e-mopeds as well as car sharing options. Train, tram and car commuters, and those living or working in the locality, can choose the mobility option best suited to finishing their journey. The various ‘last mile’ options are brought together under the umbrella of a single app – Mobility Stuttgart. This provides a one-stop-shop app where users can choose the most suitable and cost-effective mode of transport with the assurance of advance reservations. Expansion of the MobiHub is planned in 2023 by incorporating charging stations and bike boxes, further enhancing the attractiveness of the station and adjacent parking.
Austria
Austria’s first ticketless parking pilot launched in Graz
Following the successful test of ticketless parking throughout Germany, a pilot was launched in Graz during 2022. Combining two technologies to facilitate ticketless parking, the site combines licence plate recognition technology with the implementation of the Pcard. Pcard users are charged the discounted tariff and other users pay via the pay-by-plate system. All signage at the site has been refreshed and entry and exit points feature digital signage that display current tariffs and register the licence. Easy cashless payment options mean that these payments now represent 80% of all onsite payments. The goal is to handle all parking processes without tickets or cards, thus providing our customers with a convenient hassle-free process. In the future, Contipark (Interparking's German subsidiary) wants to roll out ticketless solutions as the new PMS standard.

Digitalisation: No more queueing at payment terminals in The Hague’s Boulevard
A pilot project in The Hague’s Boulevard site was launched in 2022 to permit QR code enabled mobile payments. Each ticket has a QR code printed on the back which can be used for mobile payments, allowing users to skip the queue and go straight to the exit. With thousands of payments using this new service last year, it has proven to be popular with users, and will be rolled out to more sites in 2023.

Expanding our offer in Bucharest
The renovation of the Bucur Obor car park in Bucharest is nearing completion. Its forthcoming opening is excellent news for the Romanian capital, which, as it continues to develop economically, is sorely lacking in parking spaces. The building will have two levels and a total of 965 spaces. The originality lies in its design: located under a huge square, the car park is divided into two north-south sections on either side of a major road. Interparking Romania already offers four other car parks in Bucharest: the Piata Universitatii and the Inter car park, located a few steps from the old town and the university, the Pipera car park, nestled in the heart of an office district in the north of the city, and the vast Sun Plaza Mall car park in the south of the capital.

Cargo-bikes delivery solution in partnership with Ziegler Logistics
Interparking launched “Cargo-bikes” in partnership with Ziegler Logistics. This “last-mile” (final stage of the order process) delivery solution sees large parcels delivered with very low to almost zero CO2 emissions: an electric van “shuttle” connects the main hub to a microhub located in the Interparking Albertine car park in Brussels; from there, the cargo bikes leave for the final destination. This service is not only greener but it’s also more efficient, for example, the Cargo Bike XXL makes up to 50 stops per day whereas a conventional distribution van only makes an average of 25 stops per day. Introduced as a proof-of-concept, the initiative will soon be extended to other cities such as Knokke and Bruges.

Brussels Airport: Interparking enhances travel experience with parking extension
Interparking and Brussels Airport offer now an additional 2,000 parking spaces with the extension of parking P3. The new facility has been designed to provide holidaymakers with the space they need to park their cars while enjoying a relaxing vacation. The extension offers great flexibility, allowing travellers to reserve a parking space up to 2 hours before take-off or arrive at the site without a reservation and still park their car easily.
